| The mongolian leader Tschingis Khan, ordered the city of Neischabur be razed to the ground. The scientists, artists and all able-bodied men and women of the city were transported to Mongolia. The remaining men were murdered. The remaining women were forced to dance naked on the corpses of their men. Neischabur was a very important cultural and academic city for this time. The city library, which was completely destroyed, contained more than 200,000 hand written works. |
